> >Existing Instructors with a ServSafe Certification that will not expire prior to September 30, 2008 > Existing Instructors with a ServSafe Certification that has expired or will expire prior to September 30, 2008 > New ServSafe Certified Instructor or Dual Role Applicants without a ServSafe Certification For Proctors: > Existing ServSafe Proctors > New ServSafe Registered Proctor Applicants Dear Colleague, Last month, the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) sent you an e-mail and a letter detailing new service and standard improvements for teaching and proctoring ServSafe® Food Safety Training and Exams. As part of this ongoing enhancement process, we want to inform you about some positive upcoming changes, as well as the important renewal/application process that every Instructor and Proctormust complete. Making changes to answer today’s challenges.
Before making any changes, we listened to our Instructors and Proctors. They described the challenges they face today in delivering food safety training in an exciting and meaningful way. As a result, the NRAEF is making an unprecedented investment in ServSafe Instructors and Proctors to provide the tools they need for optimal success.Here are some ways the NRAEF is helping meet today’s training challenges:
As an Instructor or Proctor, there will always be challenges that are out of your control. However, new tools and resources will help you achieve a consistent and successful learning experience for your students. Creating a community within the Instructor and Proctor Network. This will help everyone share best practices and strengthen communication between Instructors, Proctors and the NRAEF. Safeguarding the administration of ServSafe examinations. Increased exam security benefits our entire industry and our guests. Defining roles means more clarity for everyone.
Starting March 31, 2008, all existing ServSafe Instructors and Proctors need to choose one of the following roles:
Registered ServSafe Proctor Dual Role (both a Certified ServSafe Instructor and a Registered ServSafe Proctor) Read about the renewal processes for existing ServSafe Instructors and Proctors.
Now is the time to learn about the new renewal process procedures that will be
effective soon.For existing ServSafe Instructors: Keeping your Certification current is important, and it's the first step in the renewal process. Based on when your Certification expires, you will need to follow one of the two renewal options below.
Watch for exciting new resources on the horizon.
In the coming months, the NRAEF will be providing many new resources for Instructors and Proctors, including the “2-Minute Trainer,” a monthly newsletter, “Instructor Idea of the Month,” and more. You will learn more about these resources in future communications.
